Ashton Jeanty injury update: Not as bad as feared

UPDATE: Ian Rapoport is now reporting that Jeanty suffered a sprained ankle that is not considered a “long-term” injury. 7 hours ago

It appears Las Vegas dodged a bullet after the Jeanty news (below), but has been very coy about an actual timeline of the ankle injury. A high-ankle sprain (Grade 2) would be managed within 4-6 weeks. With a mild (Grade 1) sprain, he should be ready to go for the season.

The Raiders have NOT described it as a high-ankle sprain yet, but the silence on the issue is deafening; rookie Mike Washington Jr. remains a viable late draft pick.

The Raiders team looked on in stunned silence after Ashton Jeanty “got hurt in practice today and could not put pressure on his leg when leaving the field,” Vinny Bonsignore reports. (Read more)

Projects full volume out of the gate in Week 1, with efficiency ramping back to 90% of his pre-injury baseline by late October.

Saquon Barkley (PHI): Bounceback

Suffered from the 3rd-highest negative rush rate because Jurgens, Dickerson, and Johnson were playing hobbled. A clean bill of health up front means Saquon is primed to rebound this season.

Josh Jacobs (GB): Nothing To See Here

Minor groin tweak. Minimal long-term concern as long as he’s back on the field within two weeks.

Wide Receivers

Malik Nabers (NYG): Promising

Expect him to return to contact drills soon—and when he does, his ADP is going to shoot straight to the moon. Buy the dip now.

CeeDee Lamb (DAL): Undervalued

CeeDee is undervalued. Pre- and post-injury, Lamb was pacing for 1,400 receiving yards over eight-game stretches. Elite efficiency awaits in 2026.

Mike Evans (SF): High Risk

Given the age curve and an extensive leg injury history, the floor is lava here.

Emeka Egbuka (TB): Rebounding

The 2025 hamstring tear is well-documented, but it also coincided with Mayfield getting severely banged up. The efficiency metrics project a massive rebound in ‘26.

Alec Pierce (IND): Highly Unknown

Coaches are “hope trafficking,” claiming Pierce will be back practicing in 1–2 weeks. We have very limited diagnostic data, so don’t get out over your skis.

AJ Brown (NE): Draft Away

Dislocated thumb is not a major concern. As long as he avoids a re-aggravation before Week 1, push the draft button.

Rashee Rice (WR, KC): Shortened Career

Having loose bodies removed indicates underlying cartilage wear. Short-term wheels up, long-term dynasty risk elevated.

DeVonta Smith (PHI): Maintenance 101

Minor hamstring flare. Assuming it doesn’t leak into preseason action, the predictive models project zero impact on his regular season output.

Makai Lemon (PHI): Nervous Energy

Another “minor” hamstring, but rookie WRs missing crucial camp reps historically suffer an early-season efficiency penalty. Track the timeline closely.

Xavier Worthy (KC): Just a Scare

Video evidence points to an AC sprain (pushing on the joint)—independent of his past labrum injuries (pulling the joint). Expect Worthy back by Week 1 and don’t forget speed kills.

Jalen McMillan (TB): Not Great

Knee issue with limited details. The silver lining? His prior injury profile wasn’t knee-related, which slightly works in his favor.

Tight Ends

Tucker Kraft (GB): Ahead of Schedule

Approaching the nine-month mark post-surgery; the absolute earliest Green Bay lets players back on the grass. Expect his ADP to heat up rapidly over the next two weeks as he hits the field.

Brock Bowers (LV): All Systems GO

Expect 100% Brock Bowers. Non-surgical PCL injuries do not carry a statistical hangover into the following season.

George Kittle (SF): Nerfed

Week 1 status is a coin-toss, but either way, the historical data projects a MAJOR drop in explosiveness if active early, as well as a target share dip across the season.

While researching for fantasy football, PlayerProfiler’s Data Analysis Tool can yield some pretty fun results. Some season statistics just don’t seem real.

Here are 5 season stats as well as 1 single-game and 1-career stat that blew me away:

5. Rob Gronkowski, 2011: 20% TD Rate

90 Receptions, 1,327 Receiving Yards, 19 Total Touchdowns (18 rec + 1 rush)

Gronk caught more touchdown passes by himself (18) than seven entire NFL team passing offenses managed that year (including the Rams, Jaguars, Chiefs, and Browns), and his 18 receiving touchdowns remain the all-time NFL single-season record for a tight end. He averaged a touchdown once every 5 catches, which is a 20% TD Rate!

The Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers reported to camp early this season, as they’ll be featured in the Hall of Fame Game on August 6. The other 30 NFL clubs reported July 28 (read: three days ago), and fantasy managers and NFL fans in general have been hit with a deluge of news right off the bat.

There’s very little wiggle-room for “coachspeak” at this point. Either players are on the field, or they aren’t. Likewise, the first reports of who's first on the field with the starters begin to indicate early depth charts (hello, Rico Dowdle and… Tyler Allgeier?).

With Christian Kirk also sidelined in camp, rookie De’Zhaun Stribling is enjoying No. 2 wideout reps with Brock Purdy. With no concrete timeline for Pearsall’s return, his ADP is set to tumble, while Stribling gains momentum as a viable fantasy option.

With Christian Kirk also banged up, Stribling is no longer “The Swindler,” he is set to command target volume in Week 1 and is a prime target in best ball right now.

We have Coker 17 spots ahead of ADP and Pearsall 18 spots behind ADP. Coker is the WR to draft in Carolina and Mike Evans is the WR to target in San Francisco.

2. Carnell Tate vs. Ladd McConkey

Carnell Tate is a healthier, better version of Ladd McConkey, and yet their best ball ADPs are drastically different: 35.6 for McConkey vs. 58.6 for Tate. I believe the myriad of “meh” options in Tennessee from Wan’Dale to Ridley to Dike is suppressing Tate. This is a massive exploit.

Egbuka has a similar profile to JSN and went to Ohio State, but his situation is very different than JSN who had no target competition in 2025, including out of the backfield. Egbuka’s best ball ADP is currently 36, Godwin’s is 87. With Gainwell commanding targets out of the backfield, McMillan healthy and Hurst playing some X, I have to admit that Godwin is the smash here at cost as much as I LOVE Emeka Egbuka.

With that in mind, here are my Top-10 players who I LOVE but simply cannot draft at cost.

1. Emeka Egbuka

Egbuka failed to eclipse 10 fantasy points in any game in the second half of 2025 (Mike Evans was injured in Week 7). He is now is facing an influx of target competition after posting 1500+ air yards in 2025.

In previous seasons, I would have been all-in on Egbuka. A wiser Podfather has to acknowledge that Egbuka is a year away from achieving superstar status, but dynasty drafters should not be shy about gobbling up as much Egbuka as possible.

2. Nico Collins | Jayden Higgins | Jaylin Noel

Listen to teams when they tell you what they are. Houston signed David Montgomery to be a run-first, defensive-focused team. The pass attempts will decline in 2026, and it will be impossible for Collins/Higgins/Noel to deliver at their respective ADPs.

The only member of this Texans passing game that I am interested in at cost is Tank Dell, and it’s tepid enthusiasm.

Vele is the ultimate late bloomer and is already past the age apex. He is big and fast and is translating those athletic gifts into on-field production and spectacular plays. Vele will be the No. 2 wide receiver in the early weeks before slotting in as a big play specialist No. 3 WR for a team that will lean on three-wide receiver sets.

9. Darnell Mooney (202 ADP)

Mooney is not dead yet. He is the most historically productive wide receiver behind Malik Nabers. Still just 28 years old, Mooney is a good skill match with DGAF Jaxon Dart and will deliver spike weeks throughout 2026.

8. Jailen Nailor (153 ADP)

The Raiders intentionally targeted Nailor to be a bridge No. 1 WR. Whether the QB is Cousins or Mendoza, Nailor will be heavily targeted, especially in the red zone, after he scored 10 TDs over the last two seasons in Minnesota. Just past the age apex at 27.4 years of age, a lack of name ID is all that is holding Nailor back.

I aspire to stack QBs and WRs but it is actually much more difficult to stack QBs and WRs in dynasty start-up drafts than in best ball drafts. Most of my dynasty teams are newly acquired orphans, and I have had more luck stacking my favorite quarterbacks with some of my favorite wide receivers and tight ends in some recent start-ups.

1. Dak Prescott - Ryan Flournoy (10.7%)

   I got in early, and now the buzz on Flournoy is bordering on hard to believe at this point.

2. Justin Herbert - Tre’ Harris (10.7%)

   Harris is the only Los Angeles WR with a true alpha profile, and he was often available in Round 12 or beyond.

3. Tyler Shough - Devaughn Vele (10.7%)

   This one is even better in best ball leagues.
