Locks and sleepers for fantasy leagues in Week 9

This is a week of big road favorites, which means more potential shootouts and QB-WR fantasy points.

QUARTERBACK

Confidence Play: Malik Willis (vs DET)

Willis has thrown two touchdowns in consecutive games and averages 33 rushing yards per start. Detroit has allowed 259 passing yards and 2.3 passing touchdowns per game over the last four weeks. Passing matchup plus rushing upside is the best path for a streamer to sneak into the QB1 zone.

Very Streamable: Michael Penix Jr. (vs CIN)

Cincinnati has been stout vs. the run this year. Falcons will be forced to throw with a healthy implied points total (24.75). We are pounding the Penix overs and hoping for good weather in Spain.

Desperation Play: Drew Lock (vs ARI)

Sam Darnold is out with a quad injury, and Seattle plans to start Lock. Lock is managing an elbow injury, but if cleared, he gets an Arizona defense ranked 31st in EPA per pass allowed. Lock is not a lock but is very steamable in deep 1-QB leagues and superflex formats.

RUNNING BACK

Lock Button: Chase Brown (at ATL)

Chase Brown was made for road games on turf with 27.75 implied points for the Bengals. Brown will be featured heavily in Cincinnati run and pass games. Play him with complete confidence in all formats.

Rookie Breakout: Jonah Coleman (at CAR)

Coleman just delivered 104 total yards on 15 touches while playing 67.9% of Denver’s snaps. More encouraging: a 50% route participation rate. Carolina has allowed the fourth-highest missed tackle rate over its last five games. The role is expanding, and the matchup rewards the skill set. Keep pressing Coleman into lineups, even in shallow leagues.
