As I prepare to record Top-10 Takeaways, here are my show notes: the biggest performances, shifting backfields, dynasty buying opportunities, and warning signs from Week 8.

Three Action Items

  1. Trade for Jonathan Taylor before he is traded (to Vikings or Seahawks?). Get Seth McGowan.

  2. Pick up Ray Davis.

  3. Pick up Isaiah Davis.

Five Quick Hits

  1. Bo Nix is back. Bo Nix has a 118.9 passer rating when down 1-8 points in 4th quarter (playoffs included). That ranks first among 169 QBs with 75+ attempts in that scenario since 1991 per @JoshDubowAP.

  2. This Jags defense is bad for Trevor Lawrence and Parker Washington. Lawrence had just 14 pass attempts. He is a sell high in seasonal leagues. Washington is a buy in dynasty only.

  3. Cam Ward has arrived. 300+ yards w/o Carnell Tate. No INTs, 1 fumble.

  4. Ravens WRs are all dead. Perfect buy lows for rebuilding dynasty teams.

  5. Makai Lemon is the defacto No. 1 WR in Philadelphia and is the perfect dynasty stash.

1. Baker Mayfield made history

Baker Mayfield played the full game and scored 0 fantasy points. In that September 29, 1974 game, the Buffalo Bills defeated the New York Jets 16-12 with quarterback Joe Ferguson finishing 0-for-2.

The strangest NFL stat lines are weather related. Michael Penix Jr. lost the ability to throw. Missed a wide open Kyle Pitts.

2. Just play Blake Corum and Rachaad White and bank the 13 fantasy points over upside WR2s

Both had exactly 13 fantasy points and TD equity is the easiest path to weekly upside.

The tight end equivalent of this is Mike Gesicki who has a less than 10% target share by has 6 touchdowns on his 17 receptions: 35% TD rate.

3. Patriots are better without Doubs (and maybe Brown)

80% completion percentage, 10 YPA on Sunday at Miami.

Most passing yards lost to drops on deep throws (20+ air yards) in 2026

  1. Drake Maye: 157

  2. Jordan Love: 66

  3. Cam Ward: 53

  4. Josh Allen: 51

  5. Trevor Lawrence: 46

Kyle Williams operated as the WR1 (90% route participation rate) for the Patriots and it paid off with a 43 yard TD but his Target Share to Route Share (90 to 5) was bottom of the league. He is still better than Doubs. Meanwhile, Chism was the target leader.

Optimal Patriots WRs configuration: Brown at X, Williams at Z, Chism at Y.
