Tua Tagovailoa Signs a Controversial Contract

Tua Tagovailoa has inked a $212.4 million extension, making him one of the NFL's highest-paid quarterbacks by average annual value. The deal is front-loaded with guaranteed money, giving the Dolphins an option to opt out after the 2026 season if needed. Last year, Tagovailoa led the league in passing yards and had his best statistical season to date, but many believe he still has not done enough to warrant top tier QB money.

Jordan Love Becomes the Highest Paid Quarterback Ever

Jordan Love also secured an extension, signing a 4-year, $220 million contract that makes him the highest-paid quarterback in the league by average annual value. However, Love's deal includes some interesting conditions. His cap hit will remain under $43 million for the next four years, and when the contract expires in 2028, the Packers can extend his $74.2 million cap hit into a new contract. This structure effectively ties Love to the Packers for longer than the 4-year contract suggests, while minimizing the impact on the salary cap—an excellent move for the organization.

Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins Expected to Miss Multiple Weeks

DeAndre Hopkins is expected to miss several weeks of the preseason, and potentially the start of the regular season, due to a knee injury sustained during Thursday's practice. Hopkins’ health has been a concern for fantasy players over the past few seasons, and he is already beginning the 2024 season on the sidelines.
