NFL Free Agency
If you or a loved one have been negatively affected by the 2024 NFL Offseason before it has even officially begun, then well… you’re probably a Bills fan. While many NFL teams have already began the age-old story of releasing their expensive veterans, no team has let go of more than the Buffalo Bills. Mitch Morse, Jordan Poyer, Nyheim Hines, and Tre’Davious White have all been released by the franchise. Meanwhile the Broncos are also competing for the ‘worst offseason’ title as they have released Russell Wilson and Justin Simmons.
Yet, amid the chaos, glimmers of optimism emerge. The Dolphins secure Jonnu Smith to a two-year deal, the Cardinals retain receiver Greg Dortch, and the Commanders ink Zach Ertz to a one-year contract. With the official free agency kickoff slated for Monday, teams are poised to leverage the extra cap space for potential splash signings.
Franchise Tag News
For many teams the NFL franchise tag deadline came and went, however a few teams did take advantage of the exclusive rights deal. The Colts opt to franchise tag Michael Pittman, while the Panthers tag Brian Burns and the Patriots secure Safety Kyle Dugger. Additionally, the Jaguars designate Josh Allen, and the Ravens tag Justin Madubuike with non-exclusive franchise tags. While most of these teams aim to secure long-term deals with their franchise players, Jaguars and Ravens fans hold their breath as their teams navigate the precarious waters of the 2024 salary cap limit.
