David Montgomery Moving On?
Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes alluded to the possibility of running back David Montgomery moving on from Detroit. Brad Holmes said “He deserves to be in a situation where his skill set can be utilized.” when speaking about running back David Montgomery. Montgomery took on a reduced role this year as fellow running back Jahmyr Gibbs took on more of the work out of the backfield.
Montgomery signed with the Lions in March of 2023, it was a three year deal. He rushed for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns in his first season in Detroit, in his second season he didn’t reach 1,000 yards but still scored 12 touchdowns but this year his carries dropped to a career low 158.
Throughout his career Montgomery has proven to be an effective back but Gibbs is an elite duel threat talent, leaving less work for Montgomery. If Montgomery leaves Detroit it would open up even more work for Gibbs and give Montgomery the chance to land with a team that will give him a larger role.

The Cowboys Like Javonte Williams for 2026
Cowboys co-owner Stephen Jones expressed that running back Javonte Williams will be a priority to re-sign this offseason.
Javonte Williams was a pleasant surprise in 2025. He delivered the RB12 performance on the season for fantasy football and presented as a massive value in all formats due to a cheaper ADP. Heading into the 2026 offseason, the Cowboys plan to prioritize re-signing him.
Williams 1,201 rushing yards were 9th and his 13 touchdowns ranked 7th at the running back position. This potent combination helped unfurl one of the best fantasy football values in 2025. With the 12th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Cowboys would be prudent to sign Williams to an extension and look elsewhere for team building purposes. In what is becoming a yearly tradition, fantasy gamers will wishcast other running backs to the Cowboys, keeping Williams’ price point in dynasty at a price good for buyers.

Solid breakdown on the Williams situation. The idea that fantasy managers will wishcast other RBs to Dallas keeping his price down is pretty clever dynasty thinking. Had a similar experience last year when everyone assumed my team would draft WRs but they doubled down on the line instead , suddenly my waiver picks became more valuable than draft capital. Market ineffciency is where you win leagues.
